As 2025 comes to an end, we want to take a moment to thank you. Your support, encouragement, and belief in our mission have carried us through a year filled with powerful stories, bold collaborations, and milestones we will remember for years to come. Together, we have continued to preserve Africa’s natural and cultural heritage through community-driven storytelling. Come along with us as we look into some epic moments, from hands-on Filmmaking Workshops to achievements from our community-driven Impact through Storytelling Programs. 

So before we step into a new year, let’s celebrate everything we created, learned, and achieved side by side.

2025 at a glance

A new era of Indigenous Storytellers

This year, we took a deeper step into our commitment to Indigenous-led storytelling. Building on our successful 2024 workshop with the Hadzabe hunter-gatherers, where we trained the first-ever Hadzabe photographers to tell stories that mattered to them, we returned to their land for an expanded series of filmmaking workshops in collaboration with The Wilderness Project.

This time was different. For the first time, Hadzabe storytellers worked in teams to conceive, film, and complete their own films from start to finish, independently operating full Sony FX6 camera kits and shaping their stories entirely on their own terms.

With guidance from our previously-mentees-turned-mentors Nelson Mboya, Emmanuel Mollel, David Ponera, Victoria Wambui, Michael Ndosi, and Michael Loy, Simona Nickmanova, Johann Vorster and Jigar Ganatra  we trained 10 first-time Hadzabe filmmakers.

The journey culminated in an iconic community cinema held beneath a massive baobab tree, where the filmmakers shared their hand-crafted films with their families and neighbors. The celebration was unforgettable.

This moment marks a turning point for the Hadzabe community: reclaiming narrative power, inspiring the next generation, and sharing their true, unfiltered stories with the world.

Chameleon Corridors keeps on catching the wind

Chameleon Corridors, an AFRISOS original film, has continued to touch hearts and inspire environmental action across communities. 

With 2 Awards won, 12 Partnerships formed, 15 Impact screenings conducted and 3,542 people reached, this journey speaks volumes of the support that audiences have shown us. We are very thankful to everyone who believed in the message of the film. From our impact campaign partners, to the crew and local community,  as well as supporters like you. Thanks for helping us turn a story into a movement.

As Phase 1 comes to an end, we’re excited to invite you to stand with us once more as we prepare to launch Phase 2 of the Impact Campaign. Your partnership has carried this project forward, and we can’t wait to continue this journey together.
