KAVANGO

Expedition Filmmaking Workshop

AFRISOS, in partnership with The Wilderness Project, brings another exciting opportunity for young African filmmakers to explore the Kavango, one of Africa’s most important river ecosystems and a landscape shaped by wildlife, culture, and story. From the river’s rich biodiversity to the communities who have lived alongside its waters for generations, the Kavango is a place where nature and heritage flow together.

This immersive program is designed for passionate filmmakers that want to make their mark on the African film scene while connecting deeply with the land and communities living alongside some of Africa's most iconic rivers.

This Expedition Filmmaking Workshop is an opportunity to learn, grow, and create as a storyteller.

We are selecting 5 filmmakers to join us on a unique expedition-style journey through the Kavango region. Throughout the workshop, participants will work closely with mentors and local communities to develop compelling stories inspired by the river, its wildlife, and the traditions carried through generations. The program combines practical filmmaking training with immersive field experience, creating space for meaningful storytelling in one of Africa’s most extraordinary environments.
