Children Of Honey: Impact Campaign

Why an Impact Campaign?

With global distribution already secured, and a universal narrative at its core, Children of Honey documentary promises to inspire audiences everywhere to make an impact. Today, only 1,000-1,500 people identify as true Hadza - one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer communities on the entire planet. With 90% of their ancestral land taken away in the last 60 years, and new challenges affecting their livelihood, they are fighting to hold on to who they are.

Our impact campaign is designed to empower the Hadza with tools to document their own stories, advocate for their rights, and implement sustainable solutions for cultural preservation, land protection, and community well-being. The issues facing the Hadza today are urgent and that is why we have started the Impact Campaign even before the start of the film production. Through authentic documentary storytelling and strategic partnerships, we aim to drive real, lasting change. The Impact goals and priorities of this film are community-driven and our role as an external team is to facilitate this.

  • Language & Culture Revival

Creating a Hadza Culture & Media centre and facilitating digital storytelling workshops in photography, filmmaking and music production to empower Hadza youth to preserve their heritage and express themselves creatively, on their own terms.

  • Hadza Territory Protection

Supporting community-driven conservation efforts like the Village Game Scouts that safeguard Hadza ancestral lands and sustain the traditional food basket consisting of wild game, honey, fruits and tubers for future generations.

  • Cultural Tourism Reform

Stopping the exploitative ad extractiv unregulated tourism and establish ethical protocols to ensure respectful cultural exchange that actually benefits the community, rather than causing harm.

Our Impact Goals

Hadzabe media center

Our partnership with the Hadza community that we have built over the last 4 years has resulted in the building of the Hadzabe Media Center—a dedicated space for Hadza community members to develop digital media skills and take their story into their own hands. This initiative is part of our ongoing work to help preserve their culture and disappearing stories.
